The 7-part series John Adams on HBO is nearly historically accurate excluding the majority of dialogue which is lifted from modern language just to make it sound easier. I would have much preferred a Deadwood approach with use of periodical slang and at least throw some dust on the frilly shirts to make them look dingy.
They didn’t have Tide in the 1770’s ya know. Recorded history after all, did not begin with the invention of the 1960’s.
