Barry vs Wally

Picture 414 - Photo Hosted at Buzznet

I’ve always liked Barry more than Wally though Wally has more of a sense of humor and a fun frat boy attitude. Kind of funny though why I prefer Barry can be expressed in Wally’s own words when he compared Batman to Superman in his title book a couple years ago. In that thought balloon Wally goes against conventional lore and admits that in his opinion Superman must be smarter than Batman because Superman has gone to the trouble of making a private life for himself providing a sensible balance between super and the man. Batman always had a struggle to maintain a secret identity and more often than not Bruce Wayne exists as another mask for undercover work.

Wally never had a secret id until the reboot a while back. Barry was a police forensics investigator (think CSI) who went about his job and private life until a Rogue showed up. If he were to be revamped from the campy style of the 70’s Barry would be written has having one foot in the seedy superpowered underworld grit like Batman. As Flash he would zip through the streets and be celebrated by Keystone City as the favorite hero from the Midwest. He kept the peace in the city and finally killed Professor Zoom to save his wife. He was a lot like Hal and in fact they are best friends. Barry never did much to bring an edge to personality preferring a job well done to be its own reward.

Unfortunately most audiences will probably prefer wit and speed tricks with their Flash comics instead of chronicles of a real hero.

Gung-Ho: Pig or Blooper?

Gung-Ho has specialized as the blunt force of the Joes for 25 years making use of the most destructive modern infantry weapons.

The old M79 has been upgraded many times over as the M4/M2o3. It's a no brainer if you want your Gung-Ho to be a grenadier or rifleman.

On the other hand to wield the modern M60E4 seems more iconic somehow given Gung-Ho's brutish image.

The question is, what weapon is more iconic for Gung-Ho? I'll have to wait and see what the experts at Joe Customs have to say.

MATCH-UP: SAW-Viper vs Range-Viper

It occurs to me that the SAW-Viper and the Range-Viper should switch weapons and roles.
Photo Hosted at Buzznet
The Range-Viper has a 100-round automatic ammo belt bandolier while he originally comes equipped with a repeating grenade launcher. Range-Viper file card. They’re described as “wilderness fighters” made to stay behind enemy lines and capture what they need to survive. The newest incarnation of the SAW-Viper comes with a vest designed to carry 9mm or .22 magazines which won’t help with an automatic machine gun enough to use it.

SAW-Viper file card. SAW Vipers are clearly suited to provide base of fire and rout an enemy position. That’s based on the fear created by a powerful weapon, and what better way to add to that image than wear a skull for a helmet?
