Speaking of the Watchdogs, what's been the readers' response to the media hubbub concerning the signs in Captain America 602?
I don't want to talk about that stuff too much. The only thing we apologized for was identifying those protesters as specifically the Tea Party Movement. In Marvel comics it's Roxxon Oil, not Exxon. It's a step removed from reality. It reflects the world without actually being the world, and that was what the apology was for - not that they got offended. People were reading stuff into that. No one ever said "All protesters are evil." I had to shut down my public email because I started getting death threats from, y'know, peaceful protesters.
How can Marvel continuity be one step removed from reality if "teabaggers" are leaving you threatening messages? The conservative movement is either the bull or the china shop, make up your mind, dude.

Baggernomics
Superheroes fight crime and save lives. But by doing so they impose certain costs on people not directly involved. These are superhero externalities.
Remember: all of this is to bring us to an era of fiscal responsibility and minimized public costs. In the process, all they have to do is...well, impose more public costs.

Because whether Warner Todd Houston likes it or not, anyone with a pair of eyes will tell you that there is a strong tinge of racial tension present in at least some of these rallies, whose leader Mark Williams once called Obama "an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief."

Brubaker is not deriding all those who rally peaceably, but rather taking the boiled down, shorthand version of this controversy, and using it as a storytelling tool. Ultimately, whether this book is sanctioned by the for-profit Tea Party Convention or not, it addresses the pitfalls of the mob mentality, along with the dangers of rural xenophobia, which the Tea Party must address if it is going to grow into a viable national voice that can be taken seriously by serious-minded people. If not, it will remain a cartoonish caricature ripe for parody.
Comics are the only venue where liberal paper-rock-scissors seem to work. Thanks for the high quality scans of those panels where Bucky throws Falcon out of the bar McGuirk, you dumbass.

Let's Get Dangerous
George Orwell once said, “During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.”
Marvel has always been the house of eugenics for the progressive movement and any reader can realize that when they examine Marvel's heroic origins against those of DC. Take any character from Marvel and they were either born a mutant or the result of of a leap in the evolutionary process. As if certain humans were intended to be supermen and only through experimentation can they lead humanity into a greater destiny.
The struggle between Magneto and the X-Men is your typical policy argument of liberal humanism. DC heroes on the other hand are mostly flights of scientific fantasy or a combination of the good old fashioned work ethic and determination which created Batman. Superman's ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound is based on established, proven science that planets have differences in mass and density. Eugenics theory has thus far unrevealed the existence of mutants because of the millions of teabaggers which would have to be slaughtered to prove the theory. Marvel keeps marketing the progressive cult as if it were established fact.
This reminds me of 25 years ago when my church group got upset by a scene in Ghostbusters where Ernie Hudson quotes the Bible, except that things get processed differently now. Things like this get processed as if they really matter to people other than 14-year-olds obsessed with identity issues, which I find idiotic and sad.
Which is exactly the market liberal progressivism tries to influence through movies, gaming, liberal media, and music. Comics bloggers deny the reality of Fox News' treatment of Cap#602 like a seven year old being beaten by a mob of mexicans. If Marvel was depending on liberal cranks to bail them out of the argument, well they lost big time. The only hope now is if Olby picks up the story and headlines with it everyday until he can make an internet market out of it and leaves TV newscasting forever.

Well, the honest truth is that I can absolutely see how some people are upset about this, and I’ll explain exactly what happened.
But there’s also a portion of this story that is being blown out of proportion and taken out of context.

If anything, this will give you insight into what the insane world of publishing 80 comics a month is like.
Tea Party Jab to Be Zapped From Captain America Comic, Writer Says
"The idea behind this was to expose them both – in particular Sam (who has been portrayed most often as a leftist leaning character) – to other parts of America. While in Idaho in search of the Watchdogs, they come upon an anti-tax, anti-big government rally, which is something that Sam, in particular, hasn’t been personally exposed to, and it hits him the wrong way.
So to really get a full picture of why he feels the way he does and what conclusions he comes to at the end of the story, you really need to read the whole thing and not just judge a story and its intent on the first issue.
I have always made it a point never to publically talk about my own political beliefs as I don’t feel it’s my place to do so and use Marvel as a bully pulpit. "
Weeeeeeeak. Falcon in this issue is the Obama allegory because POTUS-Supreme presents himself as a blank slate everywhere he goes and the only reaction he has programmed into his persona is “Bush crazy yaw.”
The entire story is written around progressive theology which is the only political stripe which paints conservatives as a petty, tumultuous minority, anti-government racist militia which must to be stopped immediately without question because the future of humanity is in peril when the world is expected to melt during a snowstorm of untold fury. And Cap#602 is full of it. If Falcon really were a whiney Obamamaniac he wouldn't fly unless Glenn Beck pushed him off a building.

Cap for All Seasons
Nice going Marvel Comics. Thanks for making patriotic Americans into your newest super villains.
So, there you have it, America. Tea Party protesters just “hate the government,” they are racists, they are all white folks, they are angry, and they associate with secretive white supremacist groups that want to over throw the U.S. government.
Cap#602 was delayed about four months so no telling how much thought was put into cursing conservatives. Steve Rogers isn't even in this issue and he's an FDR Democrat. Bucky is the Russian brain-washed communist substitute Cap and his opinions mentioned in this issue mark him as progressive. The impostor Captain America is the one from the fifties who used to punch Communists hidden in Congress, later retconned as a psychotic super-villain.
Glenn Beck didn't get into the worst of this issue. Cap#602 even makes the crime fighting superheroes of yesteryear look foolish by having an apparently grassroots capitalist Grand Director stop a bank robbery in his fake Cap outfit and kill a number of cops using his shield when deputies rolled up on the Watchdog hideout. I guess because law enforcement has been rendered the new racism modern heroes are supposed to be sparkly emo vampires so they can be a microcosm of multiculturalism designed for sexually progressive indoctrination.
In a time of uncertainty Marvel's political schizophrenia does nothing but frag the conservative message in the statist flavor. I guess fans have to accept progressive propaganda or are left to wonder why Marvel is so embarrassed by Old Glory.
