Mexican mayor slams GRAW2
Posted Mar 9, 2007
The mayor of Mexican border town Juárez, Héctor Murguía Lardizábal, has condemned Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and is asking Mexican federal authorities to act immediately to get the game out of children's reach, reports the El Paso Times (can't find the story tho). Lardizábal believes the game paints a negative picture of his city and encourages tension between the United States and Mexico.
Whereas Lardizábal waited until the day of GRAW2's release to voice his protest, Venezuelan legislator Gabriela Ramirez spoke out against Pandemic Studios' upcoming Mercenaries 2: World in Flames way back in May 2006. Ramirez said the game, set in Venezuela with the object of taking on a "power hungry tyrant," was "a justification for an imperial aggression."
That was last year now here's the situation lately as developed from that mayor's type of blame-shifting and denial:
Juárez violence: Cautions should be heeded
El Paso Times Staff

There are continuing and growing fears that the drug violence, now wreaking bloody havoc in Juárez, will spill over into El Paso, Texas. So far it hasn't, at least not in terms of gunbattles in the streets and cold-blooded executions. But some tendrils from the drug cartels' battle for supremacy are creeping across the border.
Need I mention the parallels in the original Ghost Recon which 'predicted' the invasion of Georgia and was only off the timetable by four months.
Ghost Recon begins in April 2008, with civil unrest in Russia. Ultra-nationalists have seized power in Russia, with plans to rebuild the Soviet Union. Their first step is clandestine support of rebel factions in Georgia and the Baltic States.
Maybe Tom Clancy's a part of that metaphisical illuminati and should be crucified or something. Or maybe some people should pull their head out of their ass and get a real job. Besides the Mexicans and Russia are picking fights with us who live in the USA so that makes it their fault. The whole Robin Hood thing is bunk.
