Happy Anniversary Old New School Sculpt!
These are Star Wars figures, where every figure is sculpted differently with a number of repaints. No o-ring or screw in the back. Limited customization options. The legs are double jointed for no reason. Arms are very restricted by the sculpt. A 50/50 compromise between style and function, then they throw in the ugly wrist joints so neither side wins. The big thing about the old o-ring waist was to allow figures to fit in vehicles, which these are not meant to do. These Joes are reinvented in 6 inch scale but missed that height by 2 inches. But yeah, they got spirit and that's the only thing (like Serenity) GIJoe means to me so I want more...probably all of 'em.
CC rocks! Although I was never too fond of the gold and dark blue of the original mail-in. I've very disappointed in the Cobra logo on his chest. Just as with the Cobra Soldier the symbol is too small and almost hides from view on the dark shirt. They should have sculpted the breast flap and buttons over 3mm to make room for a larger symbol. This is the kind of thing you get from Hasbro, everything's great but just a bit off leaving room for customizers to finish the job. Still this figure of CC will get about as much mileage as the original I had back in 1985.
Flint sucks. I think I'll customize him into a Star Wars Rebel if I can cut back the arms enough so he can hold a rifle.
The webgear makes a fine upgrade for my good ol' custom Flint!
